For a few years now people have been saying to me, 'Why do you give out so much free information? Doesn't it defeat the object of a business?' and I suppose in a way it might seem that way. Having a blog, articles and a forum might seem somewhat self defeatist, it may also seem like I might be holding back 'the good stuff'. Which is why I felt the need to write this short post.
One reason for blogging and writing is that I want to be transparent in what I do as I hope this will show my motivations. I also like to write, and having a blog means I can write about what interests me whilst also pretending that people actually read it!!
There are a lot of bad companies out there trying to make a quick buck… and just as many 'practitioners' doing the same. What makes it all worse is that for whatever reason, a number of the guidelines in both the US and in the UK are majorly misguided. On top of these guidelines it is the hysteria of the meida that then creates dogma and extremism that puts peoples health at risk. I hope this blog and website can help to provide somewhat of an unbiased source of information.
What I really hope is that by providing this information it is not see as cheap or worthless. There is a lot of crap on the internet written by completely unqualified individuals who have somehow managed to make money through publishing reams and reams of trash and being able to cleverly manipulate google searches. The internet is used by so many people to find information on healthy living, and very often they can not get access to 'expert' information; so, I hope these pages can one day help those people when I too figure out how to be a google hit!
Ultimately, I would love to be able to make a living just by writing and public speaking; in the mean time I believe that there will always be those who do not want to spend hours reading for themselves or those that want the personal touch and the social support that comes with it. For those people, I have my SERVICES.
For those of you who simply enjoy reading the site and learning, I have a few affiliate links from MyProtein and Amazon. For instance, if I write about Whey Protein and you click the link and end up buying some, I will get a small commision. Again, I want to be as transparent as possible and I hope that you will use these links when it suits you to do so. This doesn't cost you anything and simply gives me more of a reason to give away the information I do, for free.
All I really ask is that if you find information useful, let me know. It is really motivating when I hear stories of people talking about my blogs over the dinner table or at the gym. I don't expect you to tell me this, these are nice surprises when they come up, but I do pay attention to and appreciated every single comment, 'like' and tweet I get.
