Public Speaker
You can see dates and get tickets for my upcoming talks on the Health and Nutrition Workshops page.
Being a public speaker is what I enjoy most; the bigger the audience the better! The main reason for me continuing to lecture undergraduates is because I’m guaranteed a crowd every week… Seriously though, I get a great deal of satisfaction from public speaking whether it is teaching or doing lectures and seminars at health and fitness events. As a 22 year old I did my first ever gig as a public speaker giving a lecture on the use of isokinetic dynamometers in strength and conditioning research to a lecture theatre of over 70 final year students, only 1 year my junior, and from there I was hooked. Positive feedback about my humorous teaching style, enthusiasm for the subject that motivated attendees and engaging presentation style has been a theme that has encouraged me to where I am today.
Those of you who attended the first ever Mac-Nutrition Conference saw the culmination of all of this where I got to talk constantly for an entire day about what I love the most. Thank you to those of you who gave feedback, it is much appreciated. Some of these can be seen below. A comment from one of my colleagues who attended was a real eye opener:
“I never realised you were such a good speaker or in fact funny! I always thought you were just a guy who read too many journals!”
