About Martin MacDonald the Nutritionist

Performance Nutrition

Martin graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science and then studied a further two years to complete his MSc in Sports Nutrition. 

Martin’s professional knowledge of nutrition has been further enhanced in his own participation in competitive bodybuilding events. This endeavour, along with his

academic background in exercise and nutrition, has produced the methodology necessary for optimising body composition for both health and performance reasons. Martin has studied and gained understanding of the interplay between maximising recovery, adapting to training and losing body fat whilst also maintaining performance. 

His in-depth knowledge and personal experience of such phenomenons has led to Martin being the lead performance nutritionist to the Great Britain Olympic Weightlifting Team as well as the Paralympic Powerlifting team. Here he is involved in ensuring the lifters maximise their recovery and increase strength whilst staying as lean as possible. Diets are constructed around yearly training programmes to maximise goals as well as periodising the use of supplements to further maximise the results. Martin has also taken on a role of delivering nutrition information at England Swimming talent development camps. This role commenced after Martin was appointed the lead nutritionist for London swimming’s Sport Science Packages.

Martin offers his Ongoing Support service to high profile athletes who need constantly adapting nutrition plans to maximise the adaptations to their training and to have an edge over the competition. Martin's diverse knowledge and experience allows him to advise across many sports and events at all levels, from developmental athletes right up to Olympians and World Champions.

Nutrition for Health and Aesthetics

A large proportion of Martin’s work involves advising clients who are interested in healthy living and aesthetics. Martin has become the ‘go to guy’ on matters relating to fat loss and physique enhancement. This has lead to the creation of the Transformation plan and the Bodybuilding Prep service. Advice is tailored to individual needs and encourages clients to take responsibility for their own goals. Martin aims to improve his client’s with self-awareness while educating them on up-to-date nutrition principles. He considers it vital that this process continues with on-going support and inspiration.

Mac-Nutrition was established by Martin to produce a superior nutrition support service. While this may sound ostentatious, it is rather an acknowledgement that there is a large potential margin for improvement in current practise. Human nutritional research is an on-going activity at Mac-Nutrition and it continues to help motivated clients and high-level athletes. Mac-Nutrition strives to be aware of and study all cutting edge nutritional developments thus advancing and enhancing the services provided by Mac-Nutrition.
